Beauty Today - All Smoke and Mirrors?

Have you ever noticed that the bar is just that, constantly increased, what physical characteristics define beauty? When I sit in front of the television, I am bombarded by beauties with pouting lips is similar, perfect bone structure, flawless skin, more "sensible" upper regions, size 2 size and hair, the spun silk. Take the same beauties and plop in 20-30 years when the advent of modern cosmetic technology not even begun to reach their full potential. Do you had a deal, they would have the same attributes you find these images have? I think probably not, or at least not to the same extent.

It is true that genetics plays a role of physical beauty, but with the taste of all "extreme" makeover reality TV (The Swan, Extreme Makeover, Dr. Beverly Hills) and abundant publicity, we see that beauty and cosmetic improvement can now be obtained by a few thousand dollars and a good plastic surgeon. Not only that, but cosmetics in general are now so advanced, you can improve your looks by personal makeup and care at home.

There are now do-it-yourself cosmetic treatments such as microdermabrasion home kits, chemical peels, "botox" creams and gels, teeth whiteners, hair removal, cellulite treatments, professional hair straighteners and colors, self-tanners, lip enlargers, acne treatments and the list goes on and on. Marketing of cosmetics and science have joined forces to women everything they ever wanted to be their best and feel better. Women are benefiting from so many companies compete for a piece of this relatively new markets by lower, more competitive prices.

Not only are there new breakthroughs in the world of aesthetic science, but there are constantly new studies and findings in the field of nutrition, fitness and wellness. Combine that with the new wave of technology, cosmetics, supplements and treatments, and you choose a recipe for a healthier, longer and more satisfying life for those of us who take advantage of the knowledge of our time.

So, your desire, your most beautiful and best way to make itself flat, less credible, or somehow jeopardize your feminist agenda? If you've somehow compromised your integrity, morals, or core beliefs along the way, the answer is absolutely not! As long as you are not put at risk of physical harm, obsessing endlessly, or spending your savings to invest time and money into your beauty ultimately is an investment in your well-being, self-esteem, and many times, mental and physical health. Feeling beautiful is part of what us women. Come on, it's just fun to experiment with different looks and different products! It feels good to be noticed, and if you feel beautiful, you tend to radiate confidence and strength. It is in our nature to want to feel feminine and look our best, and there is nothing wrong with it, it is not the place.

As a product-junkie "self" I can attest that many of these new products really work out of breeding, as I tried, almost all in an effort to look and feel my best. I can not wait to see what they will come to the next, as each new product seems to be the last bit. Hey, have the women come a long way, and we deserve to feel sexy and confident - beyond smoke and mirrors!
